Presenter Bio - Ryan Marciniak

Ryan Marciniak is an entertainer, educator, and Astronomer. Born in Toronto, Canada and raised in Cookstown, Ontario, Ryan developed a love for Astronomy seeing clear night skies in the rural community where he grew up. He began tutoring science and math in high school, before graduating as an Ontario Scholar.

He attended McMaster university and received his Bachelor of Science in Astrophysics. During his time at McMaster, Ryan was involved in sports, volunteering, and leadership activities, while also tutoring and working as a teaching assistant for 1st year Physics courses. As a co-founder of the McMaster University Astronomy Club, his love for space carried him through his education and professional development.

Shortly after graduation Ryan worked as an MCAT Physics preparation teacher, before joining the McMaster fireball show as a presenter. Travelling around Ontario performing and educating high school students became a newfound passion for Ryan, and it allowed him to apply his scientific knowledge to an exciting medium.

After his time with the fireball show, Ryan completed his Masters degree in Astronomy at the University of Western Ontario. During his time as a graduate student, Ryan performed Astronomy shows for groups of scouts and guides of all ages for a department funded program called exploring the stars, which allowed him to continue following his passion for teaching Astronomy.

Since graduating, Ryan has been working dilligently on Astronomy in Action, continuing to pursue his passions for teaching Astronomy, entertaining, and having a positive impact on children and youth across Ontario. He has taken a position as a host at the Ontario Science Centre and is actively engaged in special events both as an employee and as an invited speaker.

With EPIC Science, Ryan is moving into general science areas using the same formula that has made Astronomy in Action a hit with audiences, offering students and teachers new and exciting workshops and presentations that require none of the usual hassles associated with booking field trips.

Ryan has attended several conferences to promote both Astronomy in Action and EPIC Science. He has contributed to the 365 Days of Astronomy Podcast outreach program, and is a regular host on the YorkUniverse Radio Show on Astronomy.FM.
